Our innovative Candela GentleMax Pro Plus laser treatment is designed to target and eliminate stubborn fungal growth, restoring both the health and appearance of your nails with unmatched precision.
Nail fungus is a common issue that affects approximately 10% of adults, often beginning as a small, discolored spot and advancing to cause thickened, misshapen, or brittle nails. In addition to discomfort, this condition can significantly impact self-confidence.
At Progen Aesthetics Clinic, we recognize the importance of healthy nails, which is why we offer a range of effective treatments for fungal nail infection, from traditional oral medications to our advanced laser solutions. Our team is committed to helping you achieve beautiful, healthy nails with safe and effective treatments.
Our Candela GentleMax Pro Plus laser targets fungal infections by heating the nail and eradicating the fungus causing the infection. This process allows new, healthy nail growth from the nail bed, eventually replacing the infected nail tissue. Key benefits of this laser treatment include:
1. Please arrive for treatment with clean feet/hands.
2. Remove any nail polish you may be wearing on your toes, since the laser cannot penetrate through the nail polish
3. Clip your nails to a short manageable length. This can ensure that the treatment is fully effective since the laser can target as much of your infection as possible.
4. Bring new socks to wear after the treatment so that the treated foot is not affected again by a sock that may contain fungus (which can cause another infection)
5. Avoid use of medication / herbs / vitamins inducing photosensitivity such as Retinol 6 months before treatment and Tetracyclines, St John’s Wort 2 weeks before treatment.
After the procedure, it is crucial that you prevent the infection from returning and reduce the risks of getting another one. You can do this by:
1. Buying new socks that weren’t worn before the treatment/bleaching your old ones.
2. Wearing socks when you wear certain types of shoes (that may cause your feet to get hot and sweaty during the day).
3. Washing your toes and feet daily.
4. Wear open toed or free shoes, such as sandals, in public places (swimming pools, bathrooms, etc. and anywhere else that can make your feet wet).
5. Buy new nail care equipment and throw out your old ones (as they may be infected) – this included nail varnishes.
6. If redness of the skin around the nail occurs, apply Aloe Vera gel for cooling the area following treatment.

Yes. Laser is non-invasive and non-ionising so therefore cannot cause malignant changes to the skin. Your safety is our number one priority.
It is important that you do not have a sun tan (on your feet!) whilst attending for treatment – sun exposure is the single biggest limiting factor for treatment. For more information regarding this please contact us.
Our laser gently heats the toenail, as this reaches the right temperature our clients feel a little discomfort which is immediately alleviated by squeezing the toe.
Fungal nail treatment is suitable for Fitzpatrick skin types I – IV.
Everyone is suitable! Our fungal nail infection treatment works for both new and established infections.
The laser is passed over the nail at a distance of approximately 1cm above the nail, heating the nail, nail bed and cuticle. This will be done 3 times for each nail on the affected foot.
We use a Candela GentleMax Pro Plus which is the gold-standard, industry leading FDA approved medical grade laser.
We recommend a course of 3-5 treatments spaced monthly, although established infections may require a few more appointments initially. Following this we advise a 6 month break to allow the new, uninfected nail to grow through – we will then have a follow-up appointment to see if further treatment is required.
Treatment usually only take 30 minutes, after which you can go about your day as normal!
